Enjoying Your Coffee Subscription To The Fullest
If you're a member of a coffee subscription service, you will typically receive coffee in the mail every month. In many cases, you will receive two or more bags of coffee. Of course, you could just brew this coffee and drink it like any other. But if you really want to enjoy your coffee subscription to the fullest, here are some ideas to help you do just that.
Keep notes as you taste the different coffees
Most subscription services send you a variety of different coffees. One month, for example, you might get a 12-ounce bag of Ethiopian coffee, and another 12-ounce bag of blended beans from a roastery in Portland. Each coffee has different flavors, textures, and aromas. Get a notebook, and inside of it, jot down notes on all of the different coffees you taste. You'll then be able to look back on these notes and learn more about your preferences. For example, you might see that you've tried and enjoyed a lot of Kenyan coffees, but that you don't tend to love Sumatran coffees. Or, you might notice that every coffee you've loved is a dark roast.
Brew the two coffees side by side
Each month when you receive your two coffees in the mail, make a cup of each. Taste one after the other. Some notes in coffee tend to come out more prominently if you have something to compare them to. For example, you might not notice how incredibly fruity a certain coffee is until you taste it next to a coffee that's less fruity. For extra enjoyment, have a friend or family member do this tasting alongside you so that you can chat about what you each experience.
Make some new-to-you coffee drinks
Have you ever made a macchiato? What about a true cappuccino? If not, this is the perfect opportunity to try something new. You can experiment with making different drinks from the various coffees you receive. Throughout this process, not only will you learn how to make other coffee drinks well, but you'll also learn what you like. For example, you might discover that you like dark roast coffee in a latte, but not as a drip coffee.
If you're already receiving coffee in the mail each month, why not make the most of it? Coffee subscription services are more than a convenient way to get coffee. They are also an opportunity to broaden your coffee horizons.
